‘Treehouses at Kew’ was the name of this competition, held by Kew Gardens in London in 2022. Tasked with the design of a temporary pavilion, it was formulated to bring the public closer into the preservation and conservation programs that run consistently at Kew. The proposition drew on the design characteristics of the existing Pinus Nigra tree, to propose a series of small sheltered sails, that mimic the density and formation of the tree. Using recycled fabric that would be stained with the colours associated with the eldest (petrified) specimen of the Black Pine, found in Greece.
